Complete flexible packaging solution from Soma
SOMA Engineering will exhibit a VENUS II slitter rewinder in operation and run audio visual, plasma screen presentations of its new, COMPLETE Flexible Packaging Solution at K2007 in Dusseldorf on stand C80, Hall 17.
Presentations will highlight the new SOMA Flex MIDI II, mid-web, central impression press optimised for flexographic printing on thin, extensible materials including barrier and thermo-sensitive films, LDPE, HDPE, PP, PA and paper and film laminates. The Soma Flex MIDI II press offers a solution that combines SOMA’s experience with printing press technology on formed filmic tubing materials for food packaging with new features and capabilities for today’s needs.
Also featuring will be the LAMIFLEX E laminating line with its two-stand concept. The footprint of the new LAMIFLEX E is just 1,700 mm (67”) which frees-up floor space in the factory without compromising quality or productivity. The new system operates at up to 350 m/min (1,150 ft/min). Additional benefits are environmental and energy saving. The LAMIFLEX E utilizes a solvent-free adhesive using a two-part polyurethane glue which sets via chemical reaction avoiding solvent emission. This also eliminates the need for a heated drying tunnel.
Integral to SOMA’s COMPLETE Flexible Packaging Solution is the VENUS II Slitter/Rewinder. This is a robust, high performance, servo driven machine that offers wide web printers and converters a cost effective solution for slitting a wide range of films and foils at high speed. VENUS II operates from an unwind diameter of 1500mm (59”) and is available in widths of 1100mm (43”), 1350mm (53”), 1600mm (63”) and 1850mm (72”) optimised for speeds up to 700m/min (2310ft/min). Features include automatic knife positioning, automatic laser core positioning, intuitive touch screen controls and new automatic web holding system that provides ease of operation for splicing.
